Ahmed Riyashad Chowdhury is a dynamic multi-unit franchise entrepreneur based in Victoria, Australia, with an established track record across the quick-service restaurant (QSR) industry. Starting with a single Subway store in June 2018, he has successfully expanded into a substantial network of 17+ Subway restaurants across multiple states in Australia. He is now rapidly diversifying into other major brands, most notably Zambrero — along with his wife, Hridi Zakaria, with confirmed locations in Traralgon and Bairnsdale — and a strategic goal of building a 10+ store portfolio by 2028. He is also diversifying into real estate projects and business ventures overseas as part of his broader long-term vision.

Riyashad is highly hands-on, data-driven and financially meticulous. He is deeply involved in business structuring, valuation strategies, lease negotiations, bank refinancing, staff development and property acquisition. His approach combines practical operational experience with long-term strategic vision, supported by strong relationships with banking, legal, accounting professionals and builders.

Beyond business, family remains at the heart of his journey. He credits his wife, Hridi Zakaria for being his constant strength and motivation, and his children as his reason to dream bigger. He often reflects on the balance between ambition and purpose — striving to create opportunities not only for his family but for his team and community as well.

Driven by faith, hard work and meaningful relationships, Riyashad believes that true success is the ability to add value to others’ lives while building a legacy built on trust, resilience and gratitude.

Mushfiqur Rahman

Director

Mushfiqur Rahman (Pavel) is the Director of a fast-growing multi-unit Subway franchise network across Victoria and Northern Queensland. Since beginning his franchising journey in June 2018, he has expanded from two stores to more than seventeen, demonstrating strong leadership, operational discipline, and a commitment to excellence.
 
The business began as a partnership between Mushfiqur and long-time friend Riyashad Chowdhury, and in 2022 welcomed and joined additional partners Mohammad Shamim(personal and professional mentor) and David Ye. Their support, shared vision, and combined expertise have played a crucial role in strengthening his business acumen and accelerating sustainable growth. Thus, he became a part of the larger Shamim Group. 
 
While Pavel leads all day-to-day operations across the network, the partners oversee administrative, financial, and organisational structures—creating a balanced and scalable model that fuels continued expansion. Pavel’s leadership is rooted in operational excellence, overseeing day-to-day store performance while his business partners manage administrative and strategic functions to support the growth. Overseeing day-to-day operations across all restaurant locations to ensure consistent quality, service, and brand compliance is a key driving factor towards the growth. 
 
Pavel is incredibly proud of the management team and operational leaders who work with him every day. He believes the management team’s consistent performance, strong leadership, and ability to uphold high operational standards across multiple locations form the backbone of success. Their contribution is invaluable, and our growth would not be possible without their commitment and teamwork.
 
While Pavel’s professional achievements speak for themselves, he credits much of his success to the unwavering support of his wife, Farha Ahmed, whose encouragement and belief has been pivotal to the journey achieved. Family remains at the centre of his life, with his wife and daughter serving as a constant source of motivation. Although the business demands much of his time, Pavel remains active within his community and social circles. His interests—cars, community involvement, and supporting friends—continue to shape the human-focused leadership style that defines the organisation.
 
While maintaining Subway as the core pillar of his business, Pavel is looking into diversifying and wishes to expand family portfolio by supporting his wife, Farha, as she is looking to explore new opportunities in other retail and QSR models. While his wife transitions from a successful banking career into retail and QSR entrepreneurship, Pavel is confident this combined expertise and shared ambition will position the business to achieve even greater heights as it tries expands into a dynamic, multi-brand enterprise.
